24 hours. Services offered depend on the client’s situation. If the homicide is very recent,
QHVSG can assist with compensation for funeral arrangements and financial assistance for
dependents. They also have limited funds for other services such as crime scene clean up and
counselling. The service is a peer support service. They run support meetings throughout
Queensland, can send out information packs and monthly newsletters, and can advocate for
clients depending on their issue.

Part of the Department of Justice and Attorney General. For immediate family members of murder
victims. Provides assistance for part of the victim’s funeral expenses (up to $4000.00), a
maximum of $2000.00 per family for counselling and/or travel to and from the funeral and/or
trial, and also $30 000.00 dependant’s compensation, for children who were completely
financially dependent on the victim.
